Welcome to New Vista Care Home. We are a licensed, Complex Care Facility, funded by the Fraser Health Authority.Price is subsidized, based on income (not assets). Call your case manager at Fraser Health Continuing Care for details. We invite you to take this virtual tour as we do not offer in-person tours until you have been selected & offered a room by the Fraser Health Authority.
- A Fraser Health Community Case Manager will put you on a wait list and try to place you in a facility as close to your preference as possible.
- If your need is considered top priority your name goes to the top of the list and you get the First Available Bed. If you want to move to another facility you will be put on a transfer list. The wait time can take up to two years. By that time your loved one will probably be comfortable and familiar in their surroundings and it would be disruptive to move them. If you turn down the First Available Bed, you will go to the bottom of the list and the wait time is approximately eight months until you are offered First Available Bed again.
- As beds become available and your level of care is appropriate for the bed available then you or a family member will get a phone call. At that point you have 24 hours to make a decision and 48 hours to move in. This is a very quick turn around and you have to be prepared to move quickly.
- New Vista has 236 residents who are housed in 5 villages with 4 of the villages being locked and secure. Each resident has a private room with a bed, a bedside table and a dresser. A phone is optional and is an added expense. We strive to create a homelike atmosphere for our elders. We have pets that live here including cats, fish and birds, and several lovely gardens that our elders often help out in.
- We encourage families and friends to spend time with their loved ones. We have a cafeteria where visitors can purchase food for lunch or dinner.
- Our care includes standard nursing care plus physiotherapy, art and music therapy, recreational therapy and Chaplain Services. There are outings every week for all elders well enough to participate.
- In addition residents have access to an optometrist, foot care nurse and a massage therapist who come in. There is a boutique to buy small items and all proceeds go to updating the care home.
- When you are selected for a bed you are welcome to book an appointment with your assigned Resident Care Coordinator to meet with us to discuss particulars.
- If you have any further questions please contact Fraser Health Residential Care at 604-519-8500.
-Thank you and we look forward to meeting you should your Case manager select our facility for you.
