Edmonton Transit Service provides customer-focused, transportation services that are safe, reliable, accessible and affordable, to link people with their communities, jobs, and recreational activities. Service is provided on almost 200 regular bus routes, over 250 school special bus routes, a light rail transit line, and DATS (Disabled Adult Transit Service). The ETS fleet of over 1,000 accessible vehicles includes regular low floor buses, smaller community buses, and articulated buses, all of which have ramp and kneeling features for easy access. Light rail vehicles are also accessible, with accessible entrances on each train car that are also equipped with ramped entryways to provide easy access for persons with mobility challenges. For those individuals who can’t use regular transit due to a physical or cognitive disability, DATS offers door-to-door, driver-assisted transportation for registered users. In 2012, ETS provided over 82 million rides, and over 930,000 DATS trips.
